Revolut Valued at $75B, Eyes US Expansion to Maintain High Valuation
Revolut, a UK-based FinTech company, has been valued at $75 billion following a September funding round and employee share sale. The company aims to maintain this valuation by demonstrating robust growth and expanding its operations in the US and EU.
Revolut's ambitious plans include penetrating the US market, where competitors like SoFi generate $284 per customer. To achieve this, Revolut is considering acquiring a US bank, investing around 425 million euros in the US as part of a broader 11.5 billion euro investment. This strategy aims to grow its customer base to 100 million by 2027.
To maintain its elevated valuation post-IPO, Revolut must demonstrate a strong growth trajectory. Its current EV/revenue multiple of 14.2x on projected 2025 revenue of $5.3bn is higher than peers like NuBank and SoFi, which average around 10.1x. Revolut needs to increase daily app usage and boost revenue per customer, currently estimated at $101, to justify its high valuation and achieve a successful exit event.
Revolut's success in the US market and its ability to sustain high growth will determine whether it can justify its $75bn valuation and provide liquidity for current investors and employees through a successful IPO.
