REWE Heusenstamm Gets Green Light for Modernization, Adding Drugstore and Eco-Friendly Features
The REWE group has received the green light from Heusenstamm's magistrate to modernize its existing site. The project, which includes renovating the building and integrating green spaces, will also see the addition of a long-awaited Walgreens, expanding the city's retail offerings.
The REWE group's plans involve minimal changes to the existing green environment. The existing trees will remain untouched, and the municipal property being sold will retain much of its greenery, with only some additional parking spaces in the front area. The site will host a REWE market, a discount store, and the new Walgreens upon completion.
The group also plans to construct a photovoltaic system and a green parking deck on the rear part of the site. This will not only modernize the REWE site but also help relieve traffic in the area. Mayor Steffen Ball has welcomed these investments, emphasizing the importance of the project for the city.
The sale of the municipal property to the REWE group is a significant step for retail in Heusenstamm. The modernization of the REWE site will bring a new Walgreens to the city, expanding its retail offerings. The project also includes eco-friendly initiatives like a photovoltaic system and a green parking deck, demonstrating the REWE group's commitment to sustainability.
