Roadway B 294 Completely Shut Down from Birkenfeld to Pforzheim
The B294 in the vicinity of Birkenfeld, Germany, is set to undergo a significant road closure from August 14 to approximately September 8, 2023. This closure is necessitated by construction work aimed at enhancing the road's condition.
During the closure period, the B294 between Birkenfeld and the connection to the L409 will be completely closed. Motorists travelling eastbound from Birkenfeld are advised to take a detour via Arlingerstraße, K 4538, L 565, Dietlinger Straße, L 565, L 339, L 340, and finally connecting to the B 294. For traffic approaching from the opposite direction, the detour route remains the same, bypassing the closed section.
Heavy traffic will follow a larger detour route, which includes Dietlinger Straße, L 565, L 339, L 340, and connecting to the B 294. All detours will be clearly signposted to ensure easy navigation.
It is important to note that during the closure, a 100-meter long noise protection wall will be built over the south portal. Additionally, the Forestry Office of the Enz district will carry out tree-felling work on the B 294 between Birkenfeld and Neuenbürg during this period.
After September 8, the previous one-way traffic regulation will be temporarily reinstated. Parking restrictions in the Arlingerstraße, Gülichstraße, and the "Bretzinger Tal" industrial area will remain in effect until the end of the closure to ensure smooth bus traffic.
The B 294 in this area will remain accessible only from Birkenfeld to Pforzheim after the closure. This section of the B 294 has been open to traffic in one direction towards Pforzheim since November 2022.
The construction on the West Tangent interchange with the Wildbader Straße is expected to continue after the tree-felling work. This marks the second phase of construction for the West Tangent, which will improve traffic flow and safety in the area.
For updates on bus schedules and detours, motorists are encouraged to contact the relevant transport association. From August 14 to September 1, 2023, the B 294 between Birkenfeld and Neuenbürg will be completely closed on weekdays from 8:30 to 15:30.
Motorists are advised to plan their journeys accordingly, allow extra travel time, and follow posted signage during this period.
