Roadway shutdown spanning from Halle-Neustadt crossroads to the Halle-Süd motorway intersection
The German federal highway authority has announced a series of maintenance works for the A143 between Halle-Neustadt junction and Halle-Süd interchange. The works, scheduled to be completed by the end of 2025, will involve resurfacing the carriageway and the junctions, renewing the top layer of both carriageways over a length of 7.5 kilometers each.
The construction work will commence with the Halle-Süd carriageway. During this period, traffic will be directed in a two-lane configuration (2+0 traffic management) via the Halle-Nord carriageway. One wide lane will be available per direction during the construction period of the Halle-Süd carriageway. On-ramp and off-ramp traffic will be directed via signposted detours.
The "Pappelgrund" service area, located along the A143, will be affected during the construction period of the Halle-Süd carriageway. However, no new information about the service area was provided. The Teutschenthal and Holleben junctions will also be affected, but no new information about these junctions was provided either.
The primary detour route during the construction period of the Halle-Süd carriageway will be via the A38 to the Schafstadt junction. The exact start date for the renovation of the Halle-Nord carriageway cannot be specified at present due to weather dependence. Upon completion of the works on the Halle-Süd carriageway, the Halle-Nord carriageway will undergo renewal.
The on-ramp of the Halle-Neustadt junction will experience traffic management changes but will not be closed. The section between Halle-Neustadt junction and Halle-Süd interchange will be fully closed from September 18, 2025, until approximately the end of October 2025.
All road users are kindly requested to show understanding and drive carefully and considerately in the construction area for their own safety and that of the workers on site. The A143 has an existing lifespan of 21 years, and these maintenance works aim to ensure its longevity and safety for many years to come.
