Sea-Tac's 31 Near-Term Projects Move Forward After FAA Approval

Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (Sea-Tac) is moving forward with its 31 Near-Term Projects. The Port of Seattle, leading the initiative, will now conduct a State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA) review, incorporating public input. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has already given a green light, finding no significant environmental impact.

The FAA's assessment identified 17 findings, including a new requirement to enhance surface transportation at 26 intersections. This improvement, estimated at 40 million USD, is set to benefit local communities. The Port will address these findings during the design, construction, and operation of the projects.

The 31 Near-Term Projects aim to boost airport efficiency, safety, and access. They focus on developments within the existing airport footprint to meet current and anticipated demand. The FAA has issued a Final Environmental Assessment and a Finding of No Significant Impact/Record of Decision for these projects.

The next phase for Sea-Tac's expansion involves a SEPA review, which will consider public input. The FAA's findings will guide the Port in addressing 17 key areas during the projects' development. With an estimated 40 million USD investment in surface transportation improvements, the 31 Near-Term Projects are set to enhance the airport's efficiency and benefit local communities.
