Solinco Unveils Enhanced Version of Whiteout Tennis Racket, Offering More Secure Power Levels
After approximately two years since tennis string producer Solinco made its entrance into the racket market with the Whiteout and Blackout models, they're back with the Whiteout V2, introducing three versions on January 10th.
While preserving the essence of the initial racket to avoid alienating the new fanbase, Solinco sought to boost the rackets' effortless power and enhance stability during off-center hits. The new Arch-2 construction, according to KT Kim, director of Solinco Sports, was instrumental in this improvement, offering a fresh perspective on the frame's carbon fiber layup.
Kim explained that they kept the same geometry and specifications, like swing weight and balance, but enhanced the racket's construction and architecture. The modified carbon fiber architecture boosts playability, contributing to the aim of evolving and refining the frame based on user feedback since its market launch in spring 2022 and expanding its range.
"We were able to develop a racket that provides easier power and pop," Kim revealed about the V2. "We refer to it as more effortless power off the string bed and improved stability and sensation. Off-center shots are now more forgiving, and it amplifies the sweet spot of the racket."
The Whiteout V2 still maintains its identity as a player's racket, boasting a 98-square-inch head and a thinner beam for those with faster swing speeds. "This is an evolve rather than reinvent strategy," Kim said about keeping the main technologies primarily from the first version, including the Foam Tech Core with PU foam in the head for enhanced feel, high-quality 40T carbon fiber, weight control modules on the butt, and liquid crystal fibers in the grip to reduce vibration. The initial version will continue to be available for consumers.

Kim acknowledged that there would be a balance when releasing a second version for a relatively new company in the racket industry. With the dedication towards launching two racket franchises in 2022 to introduce the frames to the public, generate interest, manage logistics for distribution, and eventually encourage people to adopt the rackets, Solinco understands the importance of gradual changes rather than drastic ones. The rationale behind the second version was not to disenchant existing players with a radical shift that those who appreciated the first version would fail to recognize the second version.
Instead, Solinco focused on addressing something that every player desired. "I believe people generally appreciate the idea of more effortless power and more control and stability," Kim emphasized. "That's something I think anyone would prefer."
He pointed out that the Whiteout V2 still retains its control-focused design, but in actual match situations, where players are exerting substantial effort to get the racket onto the ball, having the ability for control on off-center shots with a level of pop and stability is a desirable quality.
To help customers differentiate between the all-white initial version and the Whiteout V2, Solino introduced a gray-based "arctic camo" graphic that covers the entire frame. Inspired by video gaming culture and the choices of skins players have while playing, this design represents the youth culture.
"The design is inspired by the youth culture," Kim said. "We got some feedback from the younger generation that they wanted something more exciting. Apart from using neon yellow, purple, or pink, we wished to create something that would excite and distinguish version two from version one."
As Solinco continues to develop its racket lineup, expect the second version of the Blackout—featuring a foam core in the more power-focused 100-square-inch head—to arrive in 2025. However, the Whiteout V2 launch comes first, with three versions—the 290-gram and 305-gram versions and one extended frame—rolling out on Jan. 10. As the year progresses, anticipate an 18x20 string pattern and an extended version of the 18x20 to reach retail. Unique features like these specifications have become synonymous with Solinco.
Kim reveals that their creative process is ongoing. Already working on new prototypes for a third line, potentially somewhere between the two existing models, Kim expresses excitement about moving a company mainly recognized for strings even further towards strings and rackets. "We are excited," he said, "about what is to come."
