In the heart of Germany, the city of Halle is on the brink of a significant change as the A143 project moves forward. The ambitious undertaking aims to alleviate Halle from interregional traffic congestion, transforming the city's infrastructure and enhancing its accessibility.

At the helm of this project is Deutsche Einheit Fernstraßenplanungs- und -bau GmbH (DEGES), the project company responsible for overseeing the construction of the A143. The company's latest achievement is the shift of the Saale Bridge's steel superstructure, a crucial step towards the completion of the motorway.

The steel superstructure, an impressive 183 meters long, 31 meters wide, and weighing approximately 4,000 tons, was moved at a meticulous pace of no more than ten meters per hour using a hydraulic wire rope hoist. The shift moved the structure 137 meters towards the piers on the northern bank, marking a significant milestone in the construction project.

The Saale Bridge, a total of 968 meters long, is a key component of the A143 project. It is being constructed alongside a noise protection tunnel, Salzmuende, south of the power bridge, and a foreland bridge north of the power bridge. The foreland bridge, currently under construction north of the power bridge, will further contribute to the overall development of the motorway.

Parliamentary State Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Transport, Christian Hirte, has hailed the shift of the steel superstructure as a significant milestone for the A143 infrastructure project. He believes that high-performance infrastructure like the Saale Bridge will improve traffic flow and accessibility in the region.

DEGES CEO, Andreas Irngartinger, has announced the planned completion of the Saale crossing in 2027. After the shift, construction of the 210-meter long noise protection tunnel Salzmuende south of the power bridge will begin. Work is ongoing on the rest of the A143 route, particularly on the complex old mine rehabilitation south of the Saale.

Once completed, the A143 is expected to connect the Halle-Nord motorway junction (A14) with the A38 at Halle-Neustadt, closing the motorway ring around Halle and Leipzig. The project promises to bring relief to the city of Halle from interregional traffic, improving connectivity and accessibility in the region.

For the latest updates on the A143 project and its progress, it is advisable to contact local authorities or news outlets that cover regional construction projects in Halle. Additionally, checking the official website of DEGES might provide the latest updates on their ongoing projects.

The community will be impacted by the shift in the employment policies needed for the construction of the A143, as Deutsche Einheit Fernstraßenplanungs- und -bau GmbH (DEGES) hires workers from various industries, including finance and transportation. As the parliamentary state secretary, Christian Hirte, highlights, the completion of the Saale Bridge, a crucial component of the A143, will contribute to the finance sector through increased investment and job opportunities. The employment policy for the A143 project is expected to be extensive, with numerous employment policies in place to manage this significant change in the city of Halle.
