Sternpartner & Burmester Merge, Creating Germany's Largest Mercedes-Benz Dealership Chain
STERNPARTNER SE & Co. KG and Walter Burmester GmbH have merged, effective October 1, 2025, to form Sternpartner Burmester. This merger creates one of the largest Mercedes-Benz dealership chains in Germany, employing nearly 1,600 people across 24 locations. The new entity is also among the 20 largest automobile dealers in the country by revenue.
The merger secures the future of Burmester businesses and preserves its 70-year tradition in the Mercedes-Benz representative world. It also regulates succession, with Helmut Burmester retiring after over 50 years and Karsten Müller leaving operational business. The new unit will operate under the name Sternpartner Burmester and maintains long-term brand loyalty to Mercedes-Benz.
Franco C. Barletta, CEO of Sternpartner, will chair the new board alongside Joachim Schlereth and Jörn Sander. The Baeckert family will be represented in the supervisory board. Barletta emphasizes the need for a solid shareholder base and clear vision for upcoming investments. The goal of the merger is to strengthen the economic foundation and tackle industry challenges together. The Burmester locations complement the existing Sternpartner network and include two MAN service workshops and a Skoda dealership.
