Swiftair Acquired by Antin for €280M, SEPLA Welcomes Change
Swiftair, a prominent Spanish air cargo operator, has been acquired by Antin Infrastructure Partners for €280 million. The deal, announced on October 1, 2025, sees the French investment firm take a 70% stake in the company.
Swiftair, founded by Salvador Moreno who will remain a minority shareholder, operates a diverse fleet of 49 aircraft. This includes A321 P2F freighters, Boeing 737s, 757s, and ATR turboprops, with more aircraft on order. The company's fleet also includes five Boeing 757 freighters operated by its subsidiary, Cygnus Air, previously known as Gestair Cargo.
The acquisition by Antin Infrastructure Partners, which specializes in investing in cash-generating infrastructure and transportation businesses, is set to bring a significant change to Swiftair. The Spanish main pilot union, SEPLA, has welcomed the change of ownership, hinting at potential improvements in the company's management.
With the acquisition complete, Antin Infrastructure Partners now controls 70% of Swiftair, with founder Salvador Moreno retaining a minority stake and his role as CEO. The future of Swiftair under its new majority ownership remains to be seen, but the welcome from SEPLA suggests a positive outlook.
