Taxi, Rental Car Association Backs Germany's Push to Revise EU's 2035 Combustion Engine Ban
The Taxi and Rental Car Association (TMV) has expressed support for the German federal government's plans to renegotiate the proposed ban on internal combustion engines at the European level by 2035. The TMV advocates for a broad mix of technologies, including electric mobility, hydrogen drives, synthetic fuels (e-fuels), and alternative fuels such as HVO 100.
The TMV believes that the decision by the European Parliament and the EU Commission to phase out internal combustion engines by 2035 sends the wrong signal. The association considers planning security in funding policy crucial for taxi and rental car companies.
The German federal government plans to start negotiations on the revision of the proposed ban in autumn 2023. These discussions, initiated by EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and reactions from industry and political groups, aim to review the ban 'as soon as possible'. The TMV welcomes the negotiating efforts of the Chancellery and the Federal Ministry of Transport in Brussels regarding future drives.
The TMV supports the federal government's plans to renegotiate the internal combustion engine ban, advocating for a diverse range of technologies. The association welcomes the upcoming negotiations, which aim to provide planning security for taxi and rental car companies.
