Telecom Egypt Secures 15-Year 5G License, Boosts Strategic Partnerships

Telecom Egypt has made significant strides in the Egyptian telecom market. In January 2024, it secured a 15-year, $150 million 5G license from the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority. The company has also formed strategic partnerships to expand its reach and enhance its services.

Telecom Egypt, Telin, and e& Carrier & Wholesale Services have joined forces to advance the ICE IV Project. This initiative aims to connect Intra Asia to India and the Middle East, fostering localization of top-tier communication products, attracting Indian investments, and creating jobs. Meanwhile, Telecom Egypt has partnered with 4iG to establish a high-speed subsea cable linking Albania to Egypt.

In a move to bolster its technical capabilities, Telecom Egypt has signed a memorandum of understanding with Tejas Networks. This collaboration aims to enhance telecom R&D, establish manufacturing facilities, and foster skill development in Egypt. Tejas Networks brings valuable experience to the table, having implemented major telecom projects like Bharatnet and NKN in Egypt. To further support its regional customers, Tejas Networks plans to set up technical support services in Egypt.

Telecom Egypt's recent developments, including securing a 5G license and forming strategic partnerships, position it well for future growth. With a projected CAGR of 3.65% over the next five years, the Egyptian telecom market holds promising prospects. The company's collaborations with Tejas Networks and other industry players are expected to drive innovation, create jobs, and attract investments, ultimately strengthening Egypt's telecom infrastructure.
