Tesla introduces a new Model 3 version boasting an impressive 830 km range, available exclusively in China
Tesla Introduces a Long-Range Model 3 Variant and a Six-Seat Model Y L in China
Tesla has expanded its lineup in China with the launch of a new long-range single-motor Model 3 and the upcoming release of a six-seat Model Y L.
The new Model 3 variant, priced at RMB 269,500 ($37,490), boasts a CLTC range of 830 kilometers (516 miles), making it the longest-range Tesla model to date. It is equipped with a 78.4 kWh battery from LG Energy Solution and uses lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries from CATL. The latest long-range rear-wheel-drive Model 3 can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.2 seconds.
Meanwhile, the six-seat Model Y L, expected to be delivered in China from September, is priced at around RMB 339,000 ($47,000 USD). It features an 82 kWh ternary NMC battery pack supplied by LG Energy Solution, offering a CLTC-rated driving range of 751 km (467 miles). The Model Y L targets customers needing more space without compromising on range and performance.
In addition to these new models, Tesla is offering incentives for the Model 3 in China, including five years of interest-free financing, a RMB 8,000 discount on paint, and a RMB 8,000 insurance subsidy. However, these incentives do not apply to the highest-priced performance version of the Model 3 sedan.
Data compiled by [Publication's Name] shows that Tesla delivered 304,027 vehicles in China from January to July 2022, a decrease of 6.32% year-on-year. The decline in deliveries was primarily due to the Model Y, which sold 202,257 units, down 17.15% year-on-year. On the other hand, the Model 3 sold 101,770 units in China from January to July, an increase of 26.54% year-on-year.
The decline in Tesla Model Y sales continued in July 2022. Despite this, the introduction of the new Model 3 variant and the upcoming Model Y L could help revitalize Tesla's sales in China. The launch of these new models demonstrates Tesla's commitment to providing a diverse range of electric vehicles to meet the varying needs of its customers.
