Tesla has expanded its Model 3 lineup in China with the introduction of a new long-range rear-wheel drive (RWD) variant. This new model offers a range of 830 kilometres (516 miles) on the CLTC cycle, making it the longest-range Tesla ever sold in China.

The adjusted EPA-equivalent range for the new Model 3 Long Range RWD is roughly 640 km (397 miles). The new variant is priced at ¥269,500 (C$51,600), which is ¥34,000 (C$6,500) more expensive than the entry-level Model 3, which starts at ¥235,500 (C$44,800).

The Model 3 lineup in China now includes four variants: the Long Range RWD, Long Range All-Wheel Drive (AWD), Performance versions, and the new Model 3 Long Range RWD.

The new Model 3 Long Range RWD is equipped with a 78.4 kWh battery pack supplied by LG Energy Solution, and it features a top speed of 200 km/h. The 0-100 km/h acceleration is 5.2 seconds.

First deliveries of the new Model 3 Long Range RWD can be scheduled via Tesla's online configurator, with deliveries expected to start in September 2025.

Meanwhile, Tesla is also preparing to launch the six-seat Model Y "L" variant in China this fall. This model will feature an 82 kWh battery pack and is expected to have a range of 751 km (467 miles) according to CLTC standards. The starting price is RMB 339,000 (about $47,180 USD), and Tesla is projecting a delivery start date in September 2025.

Key details about the Model Y "L" variant include an extended chassis with dimensions of 4976 mm long, 1920 mm wide, and 1668 mm tall, and a wheelbase of 3040 mm. The Model Y "L" features a 6-seat configuration with second-row captain seats equipped with electric one-touch armrests and improved comfort for third-row adults, including air vents on the C-pillars for rear passengers.

The Model Y "L" uses a dual-motor setup with up to 225 kW peak motor output, a top speed around 201-210 km/h, and acceleration from 0-100 km/h in approximately 4.5 seconds. Initially, only the Dark Premium interior and 19-inch Mecha wheels are available, with a choice of Starlight Gold exterior paint for an additional RMB 12,000.

This variant is Tesla's response to competitors like the NIO Onvo L90 in China, entering mass production at Gigafactory Shanghai and now official for order with September deliveries expected.
