Tesla Introduces More Affordable Model Y & 3 'Standard' Trims in US

Tesla has introduced more affordable versions of its Model Y and Model 3 in the US, dubbed the 'Standard' trim. The Tesla Model 3 Standard starts at $36,990, while the Tesla Model Y Standard is priced at $39,990, representing significant savings compared to other variants.

The Tesla Model Y Standard offers a range of up to 321 miles on the EPA cycle, which is estimated to translate to around 350 miles in the WLTP test. Meanwhile, the Tesla Model 3 Standard offers an impressive 466 miles of range, placing it among the top 10 longest-range EVs sold in Britain. Despite the lower price, these Standard trims do not skimp on features. They come with Autopilot and the hardware for Full Self-Driving, depending on regional restrictions.

The Tesla Model Y Standard has a more minimalist interior, featuring 'soft-touch, durable textile' seats and a large storage space between the front seats. Tesla has also announced updates for the Tesla Model 3 and Tesla Model Y in the UK, including range extensions and a new front-facing camera.

The Tesla Model Y Standard is the slowest version, with a 0 to 62 mph time of 6.8 seconds. While Tesla has not confirmed if the Standard trims will be sold in the UK, these cheaper versions are currently available primarily in the US, with the Tesla Model Y Standard expected to reach Europe soon. The introduction of these Standard trims aims to make Tesla's popular models more accessible to a wider range of customers.
