Go Ahead and Get Organized: The Container Store Expands its Reach in Virginia

Stay organized and stylish, folks! The Container Store is spreading its magic in Virginia this summer by opening not one, but two new stores! The grand opening for the Springfield location is set for this Saturday, with the Ashburn store following suit on July 27. This announcement brings the retailer's presence in Virginia to six locations and a whopping 104 nationwide.

Now, you might be wondering, why all this fuss about organization? Well, according to the company's CEO, Satish Malhotra, custom spaces are a gold mine for the retailer. In fact, the goal is to increase the offering from 40% of sales to a whopping 60%! That's a lot of perfectly-placed shelves, folks.

So, what can you expect from these new stores? Each small-format location will feature a design center and The Container Store's Custom Spaces Studio, showcasing customizable closet, living, and garage solutions. You'll find these new stores in Springfield and Ashburn, locations that The Container Store's senior vice president of stores, Jennifer Pape, calls "closer to customers."

But it's not just about the new stores. Earlier this month, The Container Store kicked things up a notch by expanding its Custom Spaces offering with Decor+ by Elfa, a stylish wall-hanging product line designed for offices and closets. And for those with a garage full of chaos, fear not! The retailer already has a garage-focused product in its Elfa subsidiary product line.

While the competition seems to be expanding at lightning speed (we're looking at you, Five Below and PGA TOUR Superstore), The Container Store is taking things slow to ensure operational efficiency. After all, the company has been through bankruptcy and is currently working to stabilize its business. But don't worry, there's still "tremendous untapped potential on the brand awareness front," according to Malhotra, with a focus on building greater awareness of its custom spaces offerings this year.

Stay tuned for more news about The Container Store. If you can't wait to get your hands on some organizational bliss, swing by the new stores in Springfield and Ashburn this summer!
