Title: CBS Prepares for an 'FBI' Spinoff: Backdoor Pilot on the Horizon

It's no surprise that imitation follows success, and so, it's only natural for CBS to explore a new spinoff of their hit show, FBI. This one's titled FBI: CIA, and it's slated to make its debut as a backdoor pilot in an episode of the FBI mothership this spring.

As per the FBI: CIA synopsis: A by-the-book FBI agent and a street-smart CIA operative join forces to form a clandestine task force. Their mission? To combat and prevent domestic terrorism in New York City. Casting details haven't been dished out yet.

From the mastermind behind the law and order genre, Dick Wolf, and the team behind the Law & Order franchise, FBI delves into the inner workings of the NY office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Currently in its ninth season, it holds the 8 p.m. ET time slot on Tuesdays.

FBI's Most Wanted: Unmasking the Criminal Elite

Next up, we have FBI: Most Wanted, which focuses on the New York Fugitive Task Force and their relentless pursuit of the FBI's Most Wanted list's most notorious and dangerous criminals. In its sixth season, it rounds out the Tuesday night line-up on CBS at 10 p.m. ET (just after FBI: International, another spinoff in its fourth season).

FBI: International follows the FBI's international "Fly Team", a group of elite Special Agents based in Budapest responsible for neutralizing threats against American interests worldwide, primarily in Europe.

FBI: Going Global

Last spring, CBS gave a three-season renewal to FBI, extending its run through 2026-27. Meanwhile, FBI: Most Wanted and FBI: International were both granted one-season pickups, set to air until May. The solid Tuesday lineup suggests a high likelihood of FBI: Most Wanted and its predecessor returning for another season. However, the fate of FBI: CIA, if picked up, remains uncertain—possibly premiering in the fall or midseason, while one or both of the current spinoffs might also be held back until later in the season.

The FBI is known to have a list of their most wanted individuals, often referred to as the 'FBI: most wanted'. Interestingly, the FBI's international division, similarly, has a 'fbi: international' team dedicated to neutralizing threats against American interests worldwide.
