Since last Monday, the 245-meter-long bridge - a key transportation artery - has been closed to all traffic, including trams, cyclists, and pedestrians, due to increasing cracks discovered along its length. The closure affects several tram lines and has caused significant disruptions to road and rail traffic.

Initially, the bridge's collapse was due to a ship collision that severely compromised its structural integrity. Following the impact, concerns about the bridge's stability emerged, with rising water levels and debris buildup only intensifying the structural stress. Emergency services are set to resume service toward Treskowallee or Edisonstraße, with security personnel ready to open barriers in case of emergencies and permit emergency, fire, and police vehicles to pass over the track connection.
