Traffic on Brockweg and Kattenstrother Weg is once more unimpeded following the reopening of roundabouts.
Gütersloh's Brockweg/Kattenstrother Weg Roundabout to Reopen on Friday
The city of Gütersloh is set to reopen the roundabout at Brockweg/Kattenstrother Weg on Friday, 29th August 2025, following a comprehensive rebuilding project aimed at improving traffic safety and flow.
Over the past few weeks, the intersection has undergone significant changes. The roadway within the roundabout has been narrowed to five meters, and the sidewalk has been designed as a raised curb with a green strip for added safety. Cyclists now have designated safe spots to switch from the sidewalk and cycle path to the road at the entry points.
The rebuilding of the roundabout was based on the recommendations of the accident commission, following a high number of traffic incidents at this location. The primary objective was to significantly improve traffic safety, and four barrier-free pedestrian crossings have been added to facilitate safe crossing.
The rebuilt roundabout is expected to provide improved visibility, ensuring a smoother traffic flow. Bus service Line 206 will also be able to pass through the roundabout from Friday.
The city requests all road users to be considerate of each other in the roundabout and to pay close attention to the new traffic flow. It's crucial for everyone's safety to adhere to the changes and adjust to the new layout.
The reopening of the roundabout marks a significant step towards enhancing safety and efficiency in Gütersloh's traffic system. The city encourages all road users to take note of these changes and contribute to a safer and more harmonious traffic environment.
