Ukrainian Man Arrested for €500k Investment Scam

A 27-year-old Ukrainian citizen has been arrested and charged with defrauding a woman from Reutlingen of several hundred thousand euros. The suspect, who posed as a stockbroker, convinced the woman to invest through a fake investment company, promising high returns.

The victim first encountered the company's website on social media in 2024 and provided her contact details. She was then contacted by the suspect, who persuaded her to make an initial five-figure investment. The woman later made transactions in the six-figure range, including handing over cash to a supposed courier. The suspect was arrested on Monday, September 29, 2025, while in the act of receiving more cash from the victim, who was supported by detectives.

The suspect was brought before the judge at the Tübingen District Court, where an arrest warrant was issued. He is currently in custody in a detention facility, accused of being a member of a fraud ring.

The victim reported the matter to the police when the promised profit was not paid out. The suspect's involvement in the fraud is being investigated, with further arrests and details expected to emerge in the coming days.
