Visitors express satisfaction despite a decrease in IBC figures
In the heart of Amsterdam, the International Broadcasting Convention (IBC) once again gathered media industry professionals from around the globe. This year, IBC2025, held from 12 to 15 September, showcased a dynamic and inclusive atmosphere, attracting 43,858 visitors from 170 countries.
The event delivered real business outcomes, as stated by Michael Crimp, Chief Executive Officer of IBC. Jon Roberts, Chief Technology Officer at ITN, echoed this sentiment, describing IBC2025 as feeling more dynamic, inclusive, and forward-looking than previous years. Skander Ben Attia, CTO of France Télévisions, also noted the buzzing energy, innovation, and real momentum, especially in Future Tech.
A new addition to IBC2025 was the Future Tech hall, which featured live demonstrations of generative and agentic AI, immersive and interactive media, cloud-native workflows, private 5G networks, sustainable innovation, and more. The IBC Technical Papers Programme, an integral part of the conference, welcomed entries for new technology concepts, their possible uses, and practical applications.
The IBC Technical Papers Programme serves as a platform for technologists and companies to unveil their ideas and research to media industry leaders. This year's conference covered a wide range of topics, including the development of AI, business model evolution, sustainability, and storytelling, with speakers from ITV, Netflix, Warner Bros. Discovery, and other industry professionals.
Thelma Schoonmaker, an award-winning film editor, and Bernard MacMahon from the Becoming Led Zeppelin documentary team were among the presenters at the conference.
To enhance attendee experience, the IBC organizers integrated Amsterdam's GVB public transport system into attendee badges. This collaboration with GVB, RAI Amsterdam, and event badge platform CredsNow enabled frictionless access to trams, buses, and metros for IBC2025 attendees.
Looking ahead, IBC has announced the call for Technical Papers for the IBC2026 Conference, set to take place between 11 to 14 September next year. As the media industry continues to evolve, IBC remains committed to fostering practical innovation and providing a platform for the exchange of ideas and knowledge.
