War vets in Uralsk handed 5 million tenge compensations
Honoring our heroes, the Great Patriotic War veterans celebrated with generosity! Deputy Akim of Uralsk, Aslan Tapishev, announced that eight veterans received payouts of 5 million tenge each on Victory Day, as stated by Liter.kz, quoting "My City". That's a grand total of 40 million tenge!
But that's not all, a bunch of other brave souls will be receiving their due as well:
- 165 individuals injured from the Chernobyl disaster aftermath, gathering 16.5 million tenge.
- 159 military personnel who served on the Tajik-Afghan border, fetching another 15.9 million tenge.
- 189 participants in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, which adds up to 18.9 million tenge.
- 101 individuals crippled due to other radiation disasters, totalling 10.1 million tenge.
- 349 veterans who were disabled during military actions in Afghanistan, contributing 27.9 million tenge to the pot.
- 982 laborers in the rear receive 49.1 million tenge.
Alongside these payments, WWII veterans will receive gift baskets, heartfelt letters, and the jubilee medals "80 Years of Victory in the Great Patriotic War". Even as of January 20, 2025, we've got 120 Great Patriotic War veterans living in Kazakhstan, with 42,545 citizens making a vital contribution to the war effort.
You might ask, what about other veteran groups? Well, while information on additional payment and recognition programs for veterans of other conflicts isn't so easy to find, it's clear that Kazakhstan has charitable foundations like the Saby Foundation and Shugyla Foundation supporting disadvantaged groups, including veterans[1]. The state also supports veterans through policies aimed at improving living conditions and acknowledging their contributions[1]. It's possible that as social policies and charitable initiatives continue to evolve, broader recognition and support programs for all veterans could emerge. But for now, let's take a moment to cheer for these valued heroes!
