Work on Jägerstraße to carry on next week in building phase
On Monday, 8th September 2025, a significant construction project will commence in the heart of Lueneburg, at the intersection of Bahnstraße and Jägerstraße. The project, which is part of a larger initiative, aims to improve rainwater drainage in the area and prevent potential flooding.
Ruhrkohle AG and the Municipal Wastewater Department of Lueneburg (SAL) are the entities responsible for this initiative. The construction work will involve the installation of four large shaft structures and approximately 190 meters of steel-reinforced concrete pipes.
To accommodate the construction, a full closure of Jägerstraße between the intersections 'Auf der Leibzucht' and 'Altenderder Weg' is planned. This closure is currently scheduled to last until the end of November. Large-scale detours have been signposted to ensure smooth traffic flow during the construction period.
The construction work is being carried out to address a disruption in the natural flow of rainwater to the Süggelbach, caused by subsidence. By redesigning the rainwater system, the project aims to relieve the sewer system and ensure the area's drainage remains effective.
The Altenderner Weg development area will be connected to the new rainwater channel during the construction process. The project manager for Ruhrkohle AG for this construction work is not publicly available at this time.
It's important to note that the construction work involves both Ruhrkohle AG and the Municipal Wastewater Department of Lueneburg (SAL). This collaboration is crucial in ensuring the success of the project and the improvement of the city's drainage system.
Residents and commuters are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and follow the detour signs during the construction period. The project team assures that every effort will be made to complete the work as efficiently as possible, minimising disruption to the community.
Stay tuned for updates on this important project in Lueneburg.
