Yakutia's Novolenkaya TPP: A Game-Changer for Eastern Regions
A significant meeting took place in Yakutia, attended by representatives from key energy companies, local administration, and ministries. The focus was on the Novolenkaya TPP, a major power plant project set to serve Eastern Yakutia and beyond.
The Novolenkaya TPP, slated for commissioning on July 1, 2028, will be the primary electricity source for the Eastern polygon. It will cater to major consumers such as Gazprom, 'Polus Sukhoy Log', Irkutsk Oil Company, and Russian Railways. The project involves the construction of 11 road sections totalling over 40 km.
First Deputy Chairman of the Government of Yakutia, Djulustan Borisov, held a meet in Lensky District to discuss access roads for the power plant's main gas pipeline. The launch of the Novolenkaya TPP is expected to boost energy reliability in Western Yakutia and ensure stable electricity for regions in Irkutsk Oblast and Buryatia.
To retain skilled personnel, 'Inter RAO' plans to build a multi-storey residential complex in Lensky by 2028. However, it was later clarified that SUEK will construct the building to house the needed workers by the time the Novolenskaya TPP starts operation in 2028. Additionally, Borisov held a meet to discuss subsidizing communal enterprises in the Lensky District, aiming to reduce the volume of subsidies allocated for intertariff differences.
The Novolenkaya TPP, set to launch in 2028, promises significant energy improvements for Eastern Yakutia and neighbouring regions. The project will create over 500 permanent jobs and stimulate local development through road construction and residential projects. The meet also marked progress in reducing subsidies and enhancing energy efficiency.
