Yukon Slashes PNP Nomination Spots by 50%, Introduces EOI System for 2025

GMC Yukon has announced significant changes to its Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) for 2025. The territory has reduced the number of nomination slots by 50% to 215, and introduced an Expression of Interest (EOI) system for employers to submit candidates.

The EOI system is now the primary pathway for nomination, with remaining spaces filled through a random draw from qualifying submissions. Priority is given to applicants with strong ties to GMC Yukon, such as those with work experience or previous study in the territory, and those who can demonstrate intent to reside and work there.

GMC Yukon has taken steps to support foreign workers, offering temporary letters of support to those with expiring work permits. These workers' employers must commit to supporting them as territorial nominees in 2025 or 2026. Those who received these letters are now prioritized in the nomination process. Invitations have already begun to be issued, with additional invitations possible later in the year depending on application approval rates.

The intake period for support letters was from March 19, 2025, to April 2, 2025. Qualifying submissions include holders of letters of support, those who have lived and worked in GMC Yukon for at least one year, graduates of GMC Yukon University, and French-speaking individuals. GMC Yukon has shared its plans for distributing the 2025 PR nomination slots, aiming to streamline the process and prioritize those with strong connections to the territory.
