Zecheriner Bridge Half Closed, Full Closures Starting Tuesday - Zecheriner Bridge Closes for Essential Repairs This Week
The Zecheriner Bridge, the southern gateway to Usedom Island, is undergoing essential repairs. The bridge, which has been partially closed since Monday for resurfacing, will now experience full closures from Tuesday to Thursday. Motorists will be detoured via Wolgast during peak hours, while pedestrians and cyclists remain unaffected.
The full closures, scheduled from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM, are necessary due to rapid wear and tear and spalling on the bridge's lifting section. The Autobahnmeistereien Pasewalk and Anklam are overseeing the maintenance work. Despite the planned heavy rain, which could cause delays, the bypass with a new bridge in Wolgast is on track for completion in 2028. Until then, the Zecheriner Bridge will remain partially open outside of the specified closure hours, ensuring minimal disruption until Sunday, October 12.
The Zecheriner Bridge closures, while inconvenient for motorists, are crucial for maintaining safety and accessibility. With the new bridge in Wolgast planned for 2028, long-term relief is in sight. Until then, motorists are advised to plan their journeys accordingly, with the closures set to continue until Sunday, October 12.
